Rumor: Large-Scale Residential Developments Overpopulate Warrenville Schools

We heard a rumor that new large-scale residential and mixed-use developments will generate over 1,000 new students. FACT: THIS RUMOR IS FALSE.

The City projects far lower student population from these developments. Based on the City’s population generation table that was used to project new residential development population, four new developments combined would generate approximately 120 K-12 children. Of these students, 99 would live in Wheaton Warrenville School District 200, and the remaining 21 would reside in Naperville School District 203. The City of Warrenville uses the same population estimating table as many other DuPage municipalities.

Based on actual student population data provided by School District 200 for existing comparable townhomes and apartment developments in Warrenville (i.e. Cantera Village and The Preserve at Cantera), the City’s population generation table actually overestimates the total number of students that would be generated by the four new projects.

Notes:
1) The developments are: M/I Homes’ Everton; Lexington Homes’ Lexington Trace; Covington Realty Partners’ Vanguard at Cantera; and Interforum Holdings’ Riverview West at Cantera. Information re these developments is available at: http://www.warrenville.il.us/index.aspx?nid=266
