Investigations Division
The Warrenville Police Department Investigations Division is responsible for all investigative case follow-up. Detectives assigned to the division are involved in all areas of criminal investigations, including crimes against persons and/or property, financial crimes, financial identity theft, juvenile offenses, and cyber crimes, which often target young victims via the Internet.

Each detective has received specialized training in criminal law, search and seizure law, major case investigations, forensic evidence interpretation, death investigations, sexual assault, and juvenile offenses. In addition, they participate in the DuPage Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF), which is a multi-jurisdictional task force that investigates homicides, attempted homicides, sexual assaults, and child abduction.

Alcohol & Tobacco Compliance Checks

The goal of compliance checks is to reduce the opportunity for underage individuals to acquire alcohol or tobacco products. The Problem Oriented Policing Unit (POP) conducts these compliance checks at city liquor and tobacco retailers and establishments. Results of the compliance checks are sent to the management of each establishment. Notification of liquor violations are sent to the mayor, in his capacity as the Liquor Commissioner.

B.A.S.S.E.T Training Program
The Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC) is the regulating agency for the Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training (BASSET) program. The main focus  of the BASSET program is to make sellers and servers of alcoholic beverages aware of the laws in the State of Illinois pertaining to sales and service of alcoholic beverages, DUI and Dram Shop laws, victims=rights, and how to properly check ID's. BASSET training is not mandatory in the State of Illinois, but the ILCC does encourage voluntary participation to promote responsible alcohol service and prevent alcohol-related fatalities.

More information to sellers and servers is available through the Warrenville Police Department and through the State BASSET Training website at the link provided below.  If you have questions or would like to schedule training, please contact either Sergeant Wittenberg or Detective
Downey, at 630-393-2131.
