Emergency Services Disaster Agency (ESDA)

What is ESDA?

The Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) is an entity of the City of Warrenville dedicated to the prevention and alleviation of injury and damage from any natural or technological cause. ESDA will assist the city in the case of disasters, natural or otherwise, to help provide safety and provisions to the residents of Warrenville.

ESDA Functions

Include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing emergency plans and procedures outlining the responsibilities of city government was well as coordination between city, county, state and federal agencies where appropriate.
  • Developing and conducting emergency management training and education programs for city personnel and citizens of Warrenville.
  • Coordinating with private relief agencies such as the American Red Cross and others in ensuring the provision of relief supplies when appropriate.
  • Develop and utilize readiness training assessment of appropriate city agencies.
  • Potential hazard assessment and city notification.
  • Support of the Incident Command System at the scene of an emergency or disaster where appropriate.
  • Assist in the development in media information regarding appropriate incidents.
  • Coordinate emergency lighting or electric generation at appropriate incident sites.
  • Assist appropriate Law Enforcement/Fire Containment agencies as needed at appropriate incident sites.
  • Manage the city’s emergency supplies inventory.
  • Provide back-up communications needs as needed.
  • Assist in Disaster Recovery Operations as needed.

ESDA is taking applications from men and women age 18 and older, who are interested in helping cope with natural and man-made emergencies that occur in the Warrenville community. ESDA has also assumed many of the duties outlined in the Homeland Security Directives issued by federal and state agencies.
