Recreation in Warrenville

Warrenville offers a variety of recreational opportunities throughout town. The City is surrounded by forest preserve, including Blackwell, Warrenville Grove, and Herrick Lake. Throughout town, traverse trails and paths for all to use, including the nationally recognized Illinois Prairie Path. Various parks around town offer children and opportunity to enjoy playground equipment and other amenities. The City’s six parks include Lions Park located on the east side of the community, Kiwanis Park on the southwest side, Summerlakes Park on the northwest side, Sesquentienniel Park in the center of town, Leone Schmidt Heritage Park located in the downtown, and Warrenville’s premier location, Cerny Park, on the south side of the City. Two park districts serve the town. Warrenville Park District serves the majority of the City and the West Chicago Park District serves the northern part, including the Maple Hill subdivision. In addition, residents can visit other open spaces including the Gazebo along the Prairie Path across the street from City Hall and the library, Bob Walters Commons between the Warrenville Public Library and City Hall, or the Plum Path sitting area located at Manning Avenue and Main Street.

Recreational groups that serve Warrenville include athletic organizations such as the Warrenville Athletic Association and Warrenville Girls Softball Association. The Park Districts partner with the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association to offer recreational opportunities to physically and developmentally disabled individuals.
