Public Art

The City of Warrenville embraces the Arts. There is a growing collection of public art to be enjoyed here.

The visitor to Warrenville City Hall, 28W701 Stafford Place, is greeted by the bronze sculpture, For Which It Stands, by James Haire. Upon entering the lobby one sees two large commissioned pastel drawings of the Warrenville Grove, by Nina Weiss. A hand painted silk tapestry, crafted by Catherine Wahl, also adorns this area. In the center of the lobby area stands Atomic Kaleidoscope (see photo), an interactive sculpture by Robert C. Anderson. The City Hall building also contains two commissioned Prairie-style stained glass creations by Susan McCarron. Just beyond the lobby is the Warrenville Gallery, where works of contemporary City artists hang. Warrenville artists represented here are Mildred Baldwin, John Sweemer, Dick White, Nancy Carrigan, Maurice Weiser, Cynthia Heinz, Monica Johnson and Mary Marzano.

Prominent art works can also be enjoyed at the Warrenville Public Library. At the south entrance on Manning Avenue is a fine bronze, Story Time ll, by Gary Lee Price. Going up the stairway, patrons enjoy the metal relief, The Read Family, by Warrenville artists, Jeffrey and Barbara Burt. Upstairs, the large commissioned mobile, Cascade, by Steven Haas, catches the eye. Two beautiful oil paintings by internationally known artist Adam Albright, hang above and in front of the Circulation Desk. Around the Circulation Desk enjoy Glass Flower by D. Megdall, Chestnut Wing by John Sterickle, Nothing But Blue Horizons, by Warrenville artist, Sheri Butler, also Hello Doll by Nancy Camden and Stand of Trees by Warrenville's Maurice Weiser. In the children's area is another interactive kaleidoscope by R.C. Anderson and a mural, The Fish Bowl, painted by B.J. Wagner. There is other art in the library to be enjoyed, including works by Warrenville artists Alan Barbick, Nancy Carrigan, Cynthia Hines, and Dick White. In the meeting room, The Authors Gallery, antique prints picturing twenty-seven classic authors can be viewed.
