[ARCHIVED] Misuse of Disability Parking Spaces and Parking Placards

In an effort to combat misuse of disability parking spaces and parking placards, Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White has reached out to law enforcment agencies with information regarding a recent update to their website. The update contains a link that will allow users to report misuse of disability spaces or placards occurring within their community, to the State. Individuals reporting this misuse may do so anonymously or can provide their name and e-mail address to receive a response to their complaint from the Secretary of State's office. Information regarding problem areas would then be gathered and forwarded to corresponding police agencies. The focus of this new effort is to ensure that all persons with disabilities are provided with needed access to disability parking.

Filing a complaint with the Secretary of State does not replace dialing a 9-1-1 dispatch center for immediate assistance. In order for a City of Warrenville police officer to respond to an active violation, a call to 9-1-1 will need to be placed.

A link to the complaint form can be found below, or just click on Police>Community Serivce, and scroll down to Informational Resources on this website for information on local handicap parking ordinances and the corresponding Illinois law.
