AROUND THE CITY...

Batavia Road Closed to Traffic

* Batavia Road between Warrenville Road and Manning Avenue is closed to traffic as of Monday, July 15 for up to two weeks for construction.

CURRENT WORK: 

    • Road paving is nearly complete.
    • Batavia Road remains closed from Manning Avenue to Warrenville Road while work continues.
    • Residents who live on Batavia Road can use the road and their driveways, but please drive carefully as paving work is not complete.
    • Road striping is scheduled for Monday, July 29.

We're Hiring: Utility Maintenance Worker 

* This is a full-time, union position with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and IMRF pension participation. General work hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

* Responsibilities include assisting in the installation, maintenance, and repair of the components of the water and sanitary and sewer distribution systems of the City. 

* Specific work assignments are provided on a daily basis and may be rotated. Responsibilities also include assisting with all other Public Works duties as needed.

* DuPage County health officials encourage residents to take steps to protect themselves from mosquito bites and the risk of contracting West Nile Virus.

* Use insect repellent and wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants to prevent mosquito bites.

Alebrije Sculpture on Display at Warrenville Library

* WHAT: This alebrije sculpture is from Mexican artist Edgar Camargo Reyes. The name of the owl is Buck, inspired by the lead character in the book, "The Call of the Wild," by Jack London, which was the first book that Edgar read as a child. 

* WHERE: Buck hangs inside the Stafford Place entrance to Warrenville Public Library.

* WHY: The artwork was purchased by the City's Tourism and Arts Commission under the Aesthetic Enhancement Program Policy approved by City Council.
