AROUND THE CITY...

Early Voting is Happening Now 

* The General Election is November 5. The first early voting sites are below: 

* Addison Township Office: 401 N Addison Rd, Addison 

* Bartlett Community Center: 700 S Bartlett Rd, Bartlett 

* Downers Grove Recreation Center: 4500 Belmont Rd, Downers Grove 

* DuPage County Fairgrounds: 2015 Manchester Rd, Wheaton 

* Naperville Municipal Center: 400 S Eagle St, Naperville 

* These locations are open Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. until October 19. 

* After that, early voting locations expand, and there will be early voting at Warrenville Park District, 3S260 Warren Avenue, beginning Monday, October 21.

County Offers Emergency Utility Bill Assistance   

* DuPage County will help income-eligible households pay for their natural gas, propane, and electric bills, and furnace repairs.

* DuPage County Community Services will take applications for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) beginning October 1. 

* The program serves: adults aged 60 or older, individuals with disabilities, families with children under the age of 5, and households that have had their utilities disconnected or have received a disconnection notice. 

* Residents can make an in-person appointment by calling Community Services at (630) 407-6500 or (800) 942-9412.

REMINDER: Fire District's Open House is October 2

* WHAT: An open house during Fire Prevention Week.

* WHEN: Wednesday, October 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

* WHERE: Warrenville Fire Protection District, 3S472 Batavia Road, featuring: 

  • fire safety demonstrations
  • fun for kids
  • refreshments
  • giveaways
  • raffle

Fall Brush Pickup Schedule

* Brush pickup continues! Check below for your zone and date. 

October pickup dates:

Zone 1 - Monday, October 7

Zone 2 - Monday, October 14

Zone 3 - Monday, October 21

Zone 4 - Monday, October 28

Please observe the following guidelines for staff safety:

  • All brush must be bundled securely with twine, not wire.
  • Bundles must not exceed 50 pounds.
  • Put out pile prior to 7:00 a.m. on the day of pickup.
  • Limit to one pile of trimmed brush per address.
  • No logs, lumber, yard waste, thorns, or root-balls.
  • Pile size cannot exceed the following dimensions: 3 feet high, 8 feet wide, and 15 feet long.       
  • Branches do NOT exceed 8 inches in diameter. 
  • Branches do NOT exceed 8 feet in length.
  • All brush under 2 feet long is considered yard waste and should be placed in yard waste bags with a yard waste sticker to be picked up by the City's contracted garbage company on your designated garbage day.
  • Place cut ends extended toward the street. If piles are not prepared with all cut ends toward the road, the pile will not be picked up.
  • Brush placed in plastic bags or other containers will not be picked up by the City.
  • If the brush does not comply with these guidelines, you will receive a notice, and the pile will not be picked up.
  • Once the pile complies with the guidelines, contact the Public Works Department and the pile will be picked up.

Get Ready for Ruck the Ville!

* Join the 7th Annual Ruck the Ville on Saturday, October 5 sponsored by the Warrenville American Legion. 

* A ruck is a 5k military style fast walk while carrying a weighted rucksack. In this case, the rucksack will be filled with items to contribute to the Immanuel Presbyterian Church Food Pantry & Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. 

* You can sign up as an individual, but the Legion encourages groups to sign up as teams of four for a combined weight competition! 

* Register and pay online: $5 for youth 12 and under, and $15 and up for adults (including pocket Ts!) at: Ruck the Ville

County Crisis Recovery Center Under Construction

* The DuPage County Crisis Recovery Center (CRC) will open in the summer of 2025, bringing crucial support to those in crisis.

* This includes up to 24-hour crisis observation, intervention, and stabilization stay for adults or youth experiencing a mental health crisis. 

* The location in Wheaton is close to discharge locations (correctional center, crisis residential services, acute hospital needs).
