School begins August 15. The speed limit in school zones is 20 miles per hour.

Slow Down for Students - School Starts August 15

Allow extra travel time, and avoid distracted driving. 

School Zones are 7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. on school days when children are present.

The speed limit is 20 m.p.h.  

Reminders: 

1. Don't use cell phones. Exceptions apply to emergency situations like calling 9-1-1.

2. Follow the crossing guard's instructions. 

3. Stop for loading and unloading school buses. Drivers are required to stop for school buses with their red lights flashing and stop arm extended. Cars on a four-lane road in the opposite direction to the loading or unloading school bus are not required to stop.

4. Don't use electronic hand-held devices unless in voice-activated or hands-free mode.

The City has completed an EV Readiness Program to make it easier for residents and businesses to switch to electric vehicles.

Fall brush pickup begins in September and continues through October.

Fall Brush Pickup 

Zone 1: Tuesday, September 2*

Zone 2: Monday, September 8

Zone 3: Monday, September 15

Zone 4: Monday, September 22

*Monday, September 1 is a holiday

Guidelines:

  • Bundle brush securely with twine (no wire).
  • Set brush out by 7:00 a.m. on your pickup day.
  • Limit one pile per address.
  • Maximum pile size: 3 feet high by 8 feet wide by 15 feet long.
  • Branches may be up to 8 feet long and 8 inches in diameter.
  • Place cut ends facing the street.
  • Do not include logs, lumber, thorns, root balls, or yard waste.
  • Do not use plastic bags or other containers.
  • Brush shorter than 2 feet is considered yard waste and must be placed in yard waste bags with a sticker for pickup by the garbage service on your regular collection day.
  • Non-compliant piles will not be picked up. Once the pile meets all guidelines, contact Public Works to schedule pickup.
