WELCOME TO FYI WARRENVILLE

A photo of City Hall that says FYI Warrenville

It's Friday and time for the City's weekly recap to help us stay better connected, informed, and prepared.

Let's begin…

The building includes ground-floor retail space, upper-level residential units with balconies, outdoor seating areas, landscaping, and pedestrians walking along the sidewalks. Update on Old Town Redevelopment Site #2

On February 17, City Council unanimously approved an ordinance authorizing a Purchase and Sale Agreement with Denver Capital for 1.39 acres of City-owned property at Batavia and Warrenville roads.

This is an important milestone in the effort to transform a struggling, environmentally challenged site into a mixed-use destination for the community to enjoy.

The proposed development includes:

• A three-story mixed-use building

• First-floor commercial space

• Upper-level residential units

• Public open space and pedestrian-friendly design

What happens next?

Denver Capital will now prepare and submit formal development plans. Those plans will go through:

• Staff review

• Public hearing(s) before the Plan Commission

• An opportunity for public comment

• A recommendation to City Council

• Final City Council consideration with additional opportunity for public comment

Important to note:

This approval does not automatically transfer ownership of the property. Transfer can only occur after required approvals and milestones are met.

The developer has not requested TIF funds or additional financial incentives.

If approvals move forward, groundbreaking could occur by winter 2027.

Be prepared to "spring ahead" one hour on Sunday, March 8. The official time switch occurs at 2:00 a.m. but many people change their clocks before they go to sleep.

These changes are set to occur in 2026 unless federal legislation changes.

Graphic with swirling green, yellow, and brown food coloring in water. Text reads: “10 Minute Challenge. Drop food coloring in the tank and replace the flapper if color shows in the bowl.” Logos for American Water Works Association Illinois Section and Water Ambassador appear at the bottom.

The 10-Minute Challenge

Hidden toilet leaks can waste thousands of gallons of water each year. Try the 10-Minute Challenge:

Add a few drops of food coloring to your toilet tank. Wait 10 minutes without flushing. If color appears in the bowl, you likely have a leak and may need to replace the flapper.

A quick check can help conserve water in our community.
