Community Service
City Fireworks Code

The Warrenville Police Department employs three non-sworn Community Service Officers, which serve the City in three varied community service functions:

Community Service Officer (CSO): The CSO’s responsibilities include enforcing non-criminal complaints and ordinances. Typically, a CSO will also handle calls involving traffic control duties, parking enforcement, traffic data collection, vehicle and building lockouts, animal calls, fingerprinting job applicants, and will conduct station tours.

Community Service Technician (CST) The CST’s responsibilities include receiving, preparing, and maintaining recovered evidence and property, court-related chain of evidence, and also plans and coordinates City auctions of surplus property and seized vehicles.

Animal Control Officer (ACO) The ACO handles calls regarding sick or injured wildlife, stray domestic animals and their impoundment, as well as the trapping, relocation, and abatement of wild animals. The ACO will also handle calls involving City ordinances such as parking, abandoned vehicles, and illegal burning, and assists in traffic control duties, vehicle and building lockouts, fingerprinting job applicants, and gathering traffic data. The ACO is available to address schools, children’s groups, homeowners’ associations, and the like regarding humane education and dog bite prevention for children.
