City Issues Bonds to Pay for Well Project

Home Spotlights Posted on March 22, 2023

What: City Council approved issuing $10.7 million in bonds March 20 to pay for construction of a water tower, well, and iron filtration building on the southwest side of the City.

Why: These infrastructure improvements will serve the needs of residents in the new developments including the Everton and Lexington Trace subdivisions, as well as strengthen the water system to better serve the entire community.

Project:

  • a 500,000 gallon water tower at 3S660 Route 59 (the Thorntons site)
  • a well, and a building containing iron filtration equipment at 30W121 Estes Street

Cost to residents: The City will repay the bond using revenue from TIF #4, so residents will not see this on their tax bills

Project status:

  • To date, tree removal is complete.
  • Public Works staff will be onsite this week, removing debris.
  • The City will go out to bid in the upcoming months for mass grading and drilling the well on the Estes site, and for the water tower construction on the Thorntons site.
