City to Update Zoning Code; Public Meeting is August 9

Home Spotlights Posted on June 26, 2023

The City will update its zoning code to attract private sector investment and provide different types of housing in key areas of the community. This includes options for middle-income households that are often overlooked. As part of this process, the City will hold a public meeting from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9 in City Hall Council Chambers, 28W701 Stafford Place. At this meeting, members of the public will get an update on Phase One of this process and have the chance to comment.

The zoning changes will ensure new buildings and sites maintain the City's small-town feel and achieve the community’s vision for the future.

There are two main focus areas:

1.) Butterfield Road and Batavia Road

2.) Warrenville Road and Batavia Road.

Goals include:

  • Creating walkable community spaces
  • Encouraging mixed-use development
  • Providing a variety of housing types
