Review the Draft 2026 Accessible Communities Plan

Home Spotlights Posted on March 03, 2026 | Last Updated on March 03, 2026

The City invites residents and community members to review and comment on the Draft 2026 Accessible Communities Plan, part of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan. This plan identifies barriers in the public right-of-way — such as sidewalks, intersections, curb ramps, and street crossings — and outlines priorities and budgets for future improvements.

Accessibility challenges like broken sidewalks, missing curb ramps, and inaccessible street parking can make it difficult for people with disabilities, families with strollers, older adults, and others to move safely around the City.

The City partnered with the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) and Kimley-Horn on this effort to build a more inclusive and equitable community.
