[ARCHIVED] What to Know Before You Sealcoat Your Driveway

Photo of men sealcoating a driveway that says pavement sealcoating license required.

Ready to sealcoat your driveway? City Code bans selling and using coal-tar-based pavement sealant products.

The ban applies to all homeowners, business owners, property owners, HOAs, contractors, and anyone who might apply or sell coal tar pavement sealants within the City.

You can use this list of sealcoating professionals licensed to work in Warrenville: https://www.warrenville.il.us/DocumentCenter/View/21376/Pavement-Sealant-Professional-License-List

More sealcoating FYI:

  • The City continues to license additional sealcoating professionals, and we'll share that information when it's available.
  • Ask driveway sealing professionals what type of sealants they use and whether they are licensed with the City.
  • Learn more about the coal tar ban at: Coal Tar Ban FAQ
  • Sealcoating contractors can fill out the application at: warrenville.il.us/401/License-Types
