[ARCHIVED] IDEC Observes World Humanitarian Day in August

IDEC World Humanitarian Day Observance August 19

The City's Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Awareness Commission honors federally recognized heritage and history months throughout the year as part of our commitment to building an inclusive community that values diversity.

We recognize World Humanitarian Day August 19.

On August 19, 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.

Five years later, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution designating August 19 as World Humanitarian Day.

IDEC welcomes feedback, ideas, and suggestions to further the mission of inclusivity and respect for all in Warrenville. Submit comments to: idec@warrenville.il.us.
