Upcoming Water Survey: Help Keep Warrenville’s Drinking Water Safe
The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) requires every public water supplier to run a Cross Connection Control Program to prevent contamination of drinking water. This program helps eliminate existing cross connections and protect against future ones.
As part of this effort, in January 2026, Aqua Backflow will mail residents a short survey. It takes only a few moments to respond, and there is no cost to you. This mailing every three years is a requirement of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA).
Please visit TrackMyBackflow.com within 30 days of receiving the postcard. Click on Water Use Survey. Enter your Site ID # and complete the survey.
If you have any questions, or are unable to complete the survey online, please contact Aqua Backflow at: (847) 742-2296 or email the company at: info@aquabackflow.com.
What is a Cross Connection?
A cross connection happens when drinking water pipes connect to a non-drinking water source, which can allow contaminated water to flow back into the public water system.
Backflow preventers stop this from happening. They are commonly found in:
- Commercial properties — Just after the water meter, on wet fire protection systems, and on lawn irrigation systems
- Industrial properties — On various equipment and water lines throughout the facility
- Residential properties — On lawn irrigation systems, wet fire protection systems, hot water heating (boiler) systems, swimming pool fills, water features, and anywhere there is another water source on the property (such as a well, pond, or river)
Testing and Maintenance
Backflow preventers are owned by the water customer.
Property owners are responsible for annual testing and any needed repairs.
Most local plumbers are certified to test backflow preventers.
