About the Workshop
The City is at the very early stage of exploring a future planning study for the IL Route 59 Corridor. The last planning effort focused on the southern portion of the corridor and was completed in 2016. Much has changed since then.
This workshop will feature a high-level discussion led by City staff who work closely with development inquiries. The discussion will focus on:
- Existing development patterns and land uses
- Current market conditions
- Recent development inquiries
- Opportunities along the corridor
- Early goals and vision to help shape a future planning study
This discussion will help define the initial scope of a planning study the City expects to pursue later this year.
What to Expect
The meeting will follow a workshop format, similar to the City’s budget workshops
Members of both bodies will be seated together, with staff facilitating discussion
The meeting will not be televised due to the workshop format
Summary minutes will be prepared
Time will be provided for public comment at the end of the meeting
Any official planning effort will include multiple opportunities for public input as the process moves forward.
Residents are welcome to attend to listen, learn, and share comments if interested.
