[ARCHIVED] Warhol Pop Art Display Begins June 3

Pop Art Challenge promotion featuring face of Andy Warhol

Four famous Warrenville residents will get the Andy Warhol Pop Art treatment and put on display in a mural at Warrenville Public Library this summer. Join us for an unveiling ceremony to reveal the City's Public Pop Art Challenge faces, including a visit from one of the featured faces, at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 3 at the library.

Light refreshments will be served. The event will take place outside in front of the library, with the inside meeting room as backup in case of inclement weather. This is a collaborative effort with the College of DuPage, the City of Warrenville, Warrenville Historical Society, and Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce.

Warrenville is one of 20 participating DuPage communities/organizations displaying four famous faces in a Warhol-Style mural to tie into the College of DuPage's exhibition: “Warhol: Featuring Andy Warhol Portfolios: A Life in Pop / Works from the Bank of America” that runs June 3 to September 10.

The COD Warhol exhibition will be on display at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art and the McAninch Arts Center.

The exhibition will feature 94 works on loan through Bank of America’s Art in our Communities® program. There will also be over 100 works from the COD Permanent Art Collection.

Notable works from the collection will include Warhol’s 1980 screen-printed portrait of Joseph Beuys as well as his iconic $ (1983). Also included: more than 150 photographs by Warhol comprised of both black-and-white gelatin silver prints and color Polaroid prints featuring unidentified figures and celebrities alike. These photographs offer a rare and intimate glimpse into Warhol’s New York of the 1970s and 80s. Get tickets to the exhibition at: https://www.theccma.org/warhol.
