Team Warrenville Police exceeded their fundraising goal of $1,000 for Special Olympics Illinois athletes.  Through the generous donations of many, the team was able to raise $1,498; and, on February 29th, they plunged into the icy waters at Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club.  All funds raised go to provide programming and events for more than 23,000 traditional athletes and 17,000 Young Athletes participating in Illinois.

According to Special Olympics Illinois, the purpose of the event is "...to simply raise funds to enhance Special Olympics’ mission: To provide year- round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families and other Special Olympics athletes and the community."

Warrenville Police Department is very active in Special Olympics Illinois fundraising and participates in events throughout the year.  The next event set to take place is Cop on Rooftop with Dunkin’ Donuts on May 15, 2020.  A video clip from Team Warrenville Police at the Polar Plunge can be viewed on the City of Warrenville Facebook page at the link provided below.
