The Planning and Zoning Division's work entails review and processing of various applications, petitions and submittals, presentation of written and verbal reports, answering inquiries, performing field inspections, and maintaining department records pertaining to the enforcement and application of the City's Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances. Staff provides explanation, interpretation and guidance regarding applicable codes to citizens, developers, builders, property owners, and other interested parties. Research, preparation, and review of amendments to the Zoning Ordinance and other local codes, together with various studies are prepared by the Division. Staff investigates complaints and problems relative to violations of the provisions of the Subdivision and Zoning Ordinances, Special Use Permit Ordinances, Annexation Agreements, and approved Planned Unit Development Plans, notifies responsible parties, and conducts inspections to determine compliance. In addition, staff assists in the preparation of the Plan Commission, City Council, and Council Committee agenda packet backup.
