Biography

David Brummel became the fifth Mayor of Warrenville after winning the April 5, 2005 election. He was re-elected in 2009, 2013, 2017, and again in 2021. He previously served two terms as Alderman for Ward 3 and served for two years as a member of the Plan Commission/Zoning Board of Appeals. Mayor Brummel grew up in Warrenville, and currently resides on Forest Lane. He has a wife, a son, a daughter and a grandson. Professionally, Mayor Brummel is an award winning cabinetmaker. His business, Rymar Kitchens Inc., is based in Warrenville and specializes in one-of-a-kind high end and ultra-high end cabinetry and furniture. He has been doing this work since 1976. His responsibilities while serving on the City Council included Chairman of the Community Development/Planning Committee, serving as permanent Mayor Pro Tem, member of the Steering Committee for the new Comprehensive Land Use Plan, serving on the Hubble Middle School Study Committee, acting as Alternate on the Fermilab Committee on Public Participation, member of the Economic Development Work Group, member of Hotel/Motel Tax Subcommittee, serving on the City Hall Construction Task Force, and serving on City/Warrenville Fire Protection District Task Force.

As Mayor, he has served as President of the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, President of the DuComm Executive Board, Board member of the DuPage County Stormwater Committee, Board member of the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau and honorary Board member of the NEW 200 Foundation, which enhances the learning experiences of District 200 students. Mayor Brummel encourages all residents to live a healthy lifestyle and, therefore, initiated the Mayor’s Fitness Challenge. This program encourages citizens to get active and have fun doing it. Also in support of that value, he is a committee member of FORWARD (Fighting Obesity Reaching healthy Weight Among Residents of DuPage).
