Biography
Andrew Johnson became the sixth Mayor of Warrenville after winning the April 1, 2025 election.
Mayor Johnson is a lifelong Warrenville resident with deep roots in the community and a strong legacy of public service. He and his wife, Monica, have been married for over 40 years and are proud parents of a grown son and daughter, and grandparents to a young granddaughter.
Before becoming Mayor, Johnson enjoyed a successful career as a Risk Management professional and was a Partner at Captive Resources in Itasca, Illinois. Now retired, he brings decades of leadership experience to his role in City government.
Johnson’s service to Warrenville spans more than three decades. He was one of the City’s first Park District Commissioners (1991–1997), helping to create the parks and recreational opportunities that continue to benefit residents today. He served on the Warrenville Plan Commission from 1988 to 1993 and returned in 2024. His contributions also include service as a member and President of the District 200 School Board from 1997 to 2013—ten of those years as Board President, the longest tenure in the District's history. During his time on the Board, he played a key role in bringing Hubble Middle School to Warrenville and maintaining a balanced budget for the District. He later served as Board Member and President of the Student Excellence Foundation from 2014 to 2018.
His regional leadership includes current roles as a Trustee for the DuPage Foundation (since 2021) and Morton Arboretum (since 2022). On the national level, Johnson served on the Board of Directors of the National Safety Council from 2012 to 2023, including as Chairman from 2020 to 2022.
Johnson is a proud graduate of Northern Illinois University and a longtime member and volunteer at Trinity Lutheran Church in Warrenville.
His commitment to the City is also personal—his parents were active in Warrenville’s incorporation movement in the 1960s, helping shape the independent identity the community retains today. His father, Cliff Johnson, served as Fire Chief for many years and was honored by having Johnson School named after him.
As Mayor, Andrew Johnson brings a spirit of respectful leadership, community pride, and independent decision-making. He is committed to being accountable solely to the residents of Warrenville and to leading with transparency, integrity, and dedication to the City's continued success.
