[ARCHIVED] Be Seen! A Bike Safety Note From BPAC

Bike Be Seen

The Bicyclist and Pedestrian Advisory Commission (BPAC) reminds cyclists and pedestrian to make sure you are easy to see when out. As daylight hours decrease, and morning and evenings become darker out, being seen by others (bicyclists, motorists, pedestrians) is critical for riding safely. Avoid biking at dark times of the day. Increase visibility at dawn and dusk by wearing a headlight, bright clothing and/or reflectors. Have fun lighting your bike! Riding through a crosswalk? Make eye contact with anyone on the road or on the trail. Ask yourself: “Who sees you?”

Cyclists and Motorists, check out Ride Illinois’ Bike Safety Quiz for more information on safety techniques, how to share the road, and state laws: https://rideillinois.org/safety/bike-safety-quiz/
