Responsibilities

The Engineering Division of the Community Development Department oversees the adoption, revision, and enforcement of the DuPage County Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance and local amendments.

Primary development responsibilities include:

  • Representing the City on the Municipal Engineers Group at DuPage County
  • Coordinating the review of development related civil engineering, public improvement cost estimates, photometric plans, and stormwater management / flood plain permit applications
  • Coordinating inspection of new privately constructed infrastructure improvements
  • Coordinating collection and tracking of letter of credit, construction escrows, and cash deposits posted to secure the proper construction of required public improvements

The Engineering Division also works closely with the Public Works Department to:

  • Maintain and update the city's Capital Maintenance and Replacement Program (CMRP)
  • Develop contract documents for the city's annual road resurfacing program
  • Represent the city on the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference Transportation Technical Subcommittee and Surface Transportation Program (STP) Task Force
  • Coordinate the consulting engineering contracts for various capital improvements projects
