Community Development
Responsibilities
The Community Development Department's mission is to guide and manage the development, construction, and use of property in a manner that maximizes the positive benefits for all of Warrenville, while at the same time minimizes the negative impacts on the use and enjoyment of individual properties.
Community Development is comprised of:

Building Division
The Building Division issues permits for residential and commercial new construction, alterations, remodeling, additions, renovations, temporary structures, decks, storage buildings, patios, fences, driveways, roofs, and some repairs and right-of-way construction.

Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement enforces the Property Maintenance Code and Zoning Code to ensure public health, safety and welfare for city residents.

Engineering
The Engineering Division of the Community Development Department oversees the adoption, revision, and enforcement of the DuPage County Stormwater and Flood Plain Ordinance and local amendments.

Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
The City of Warrenville utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technologies to optimize the use of spatial data to aid in planning, zoning, infrastructure, engineering, and many other day to day municipal operations.

Planning-Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Division is concerned with the development, maintenance, and implementation of the Comprehensive Plan, Zoning, and Subdivision Control Ordinances through the zoning petition process.
