2. Does Warrenville currently have a Chamber of Commerce or local merchants’ organization?
The City of Warrenville is a member of the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce, which serves the City of Warrenville and West Chicago. The Chamber is very active and supports local businesses with a wide variety of educational programs, networking opportunities, marketing resources, and an array of community and chamber-member events. Warrenville considers business incentive requests on a case-by-case basis. As a home-rule municipality, the Warrenville City Council has the authority to make decisions in the best interest of the community. The City Council considers economic development a priority. In fact, the City has an adopted Strategic Plan Goal focused specifically on Economic Development: to enhance the City’s tax base, support the growth of businesses, increase local shopping and dining opportunities, diversify the City’s Labor market, expand housing options, and attractive gathering spaces. 4. Does Warrenville review & inspect commercial permits or utilize a contractor and what are typical turnaround times?
The City of Warrenville reviews and inspects commercial building permits with in-house staff. All processes are electronic to provide efficient services. Turnaround times vary depending on the volume of permits under review. During the peak summer season typical turnaround times for review of new commercial plans are 21-calander days for an initial submittal and 14 days for a resubmittal. Inspections are usually scheduled within 2 days or less of a request.
5. Does Warrenville actively assist in finding potential tenants for vacant commercial spaces in town?
The City of Warrenville Community Development Department is a front-line point of contact for entrepreneurs looking to invest in the City, real estate professionals with active listings, and property owners with available spaces. The City actively works to make connections between parties to support tenant occupancy. The City collaborates with Choose DuPage, the DuPage Convention and Visitors Bureau, Innovation DuPage, the Western DuPage Chamber of Commerce and other agencies to support community investment.
